I have practiced yoga on and off for 30 years... more off than on. This was until I started a year ago at the Sanga Studio on Dunbar. I love going every week. Shannon offers a very prescriptive form of teaching. Being that we are all made differently, Shannon takes the time to know us all and give us individual assistance to help us better our performance. Not only do you get personalized attention from all the yoga instructors, but there is a lovely sense of community spirit and I have met many wonderful new friends. I always leave Sanga with a peaceful smile and something to think about
that involves my body, mind, and spirit. Thanks for being there for me.

The yoga style, instruction and in-studio energy here at Sanga is the best I have come across in fifteen years of practising yoga in Vancouver.

I'd had some back pain ever since I was a teenager and had trouble doing any physical exercise without paying for it the next day. Your instructors take the proper time to work with each student during class to make sure that they are doing the poses properly. I always feel good after class, sometimes for hours, sometimes for days afterwards. After just a few weeks of consistent classes, I had no pain. Skip forward 2 years and I am doing power yoga classes, trying arm balances, and my back is strong and flexible. I would say it was a miracle but I know it was Sanga Yoga Studio. Thank-you!

Just before my 50th birthday, at a time when so many new questions about the future that arise, I started practicing yoga at Sanga. It gave me a renewed focus, confidence and tranquility in all areas of life and work. I felt it, and everyone noticed it. The well-being came not through yoga practice only, but through the wonderful tone and community so lovingly attended to by Shannon and her many students. This place is a neighbourhood treasure.

Your teachers are all better than any I have experienced before - smart, kindly, knowledgeable, organized, well thought out classes and instruction. Having two classes with Shannon was a whole new level of learning..Thanks for such a life changing experience for an aging, arthritic, but now enthusiastic guy!

Dear Shannon- I just wanted to thank you again for a wonderful first experience at your yoga studio.  I dabbled with yoga poses a couple of times before with some friends but I had never attended a full class.  I have been in a mind/body transition lately and it was good timing to visit your studio. I live a fast paced life and my main source of fitness is Crossfit which is very effective but extremely intense.  Intense + intense?.... I required balance! (You need balance to stay on the ball). From the beginning of your class when connecting with the energy in the room, my body lit up and I was tingling from head to toe.  Taking time and breathing through movements was something I had never done before.  I immediately saw and felt the benefits and I embraced the whole experience.  By the end of the class when relaxing and releasing I felt a great sense of peace and relaxation I had not felt in a long time.  It was obvious how much I need this type of training in my weekly activities. You are a very talented instructor and I look forward to visiting your studio again in the near future.

During my time with Shannon as my mentor in The Teacher's Integration Program. she provided an honest atmosphere that always seemed to be exactly what I needed to hear and learn at any given time.. I grew a lot as a teacher in my skills and confidence - but more importantly, I grew immensely within my practice and as a person.

I have found health and healing at Sanga Yoga. As a newly transplanted Tennessean to Vancouver recovering from major surgery, I felt welcomed and known by the staff and participants in the studio. The instructors are excellent and very knowledgeable. Whatever your level of yoga practice is, you will be supported and challenged at Sanga. Also, the variety in the class times made it convenient for me (a busy mother of three) to find a space in the week to practice. I am truly grateful for Shannon and her wonderful staff.

I was accepted into the Teachers Integration Program at a time when I was needing the confidence and inspiration to expand practise and my career. As a mentor,Shannon did so much more than this. Through her insightful feedback she challenged me to really look deeply within myself in order to clearly define what and why I wanted to teach others. Shannon continues to play an immense role in helping me to express my unique identity as a teacher, always encouraging me to speak in my own voice, to take risks and to express fully all that I bring to this work. Through this course I developed a deeper understanding of yogic philosophy and methodology which continues to inform my teaching and my life. Since the completion of this training I have received my MA in Yoga Therapy Studies and am employed full-time as a Yoga Therapist for Vancouver Coastal Health.
