Meditation (all levels)
For students interested in building a regular meditation practice with a group.Our meditation classes are for any student looking to bring more stillness and reflection into their lives. Students will be instructed how to sit, breathe and focus the mind in a way that supports stillness. Free for any student with a pass. By donation for students dropping in.
Hatha Foundation (level 1-2)
This class is focussed on the key elements of hatha yoga which include breathing, foot placement, safety, alignment, and transitioning between poses. The class moves at a deliberate pace and at times postures are broken down to deepen understanding.
Hatha (all levels)
A mixed level class that explores a wide range of poses. Style includes standing and seated poses guided by the breath. Students will practice variations on postures to find their own personal level. Conducted at a medium pace with time for reflection and rest. Postures are taught in a multi-leveled style so that all levels of experience feel welcome including beginners and pregnant women.
Yin (all levels)
This class is very different from any other class that we offer at Sanga. It is focussed on yoga poses that open the hips, shoulders and the back, releasing deep seeded tension in these areas. Poses are held for 2-5 minutes each.
Core (all levels)
Hatha yoga with a core-strengthening focus. This class trains students how to move from their core while in yoga poses. Style varies slightly from teacher to teacher. If you have a history of back injury please attend Shannon's Tuesday 9:30am class which focusses on functionally training the body and healing injuries.
Flow Foundation (level 1-2 )
The Flow Foundation class is focussed on the key elements of this style which include vinyasa, ujjayi breathing, bandhas and eye gaze. Although suitable for beginners, this dynamic style of yoga is more intense then Hatha and has an emphasis on building strength and flexibility and cleansing the body and mind of impurities. Based on the Ashtanga Vinyasa system postures are taken from the primary and intermediate series. A great place to start if you are interested in learning an active style of yoga.
Flow (all levels)
A mixed level dynamic flow of yoga poses with an emphasis on building strength, flexibility, focus, and calm. Based on the Ashtanga Vinyasa system, Flow yoga postures are taken from the primary and intermediate series. A great class if you are interested in practicing an active style of yoga.
Flow 2/3 (level 2/3)
No beginners and please do not attend if you are injured. A mixed level dynamic flow of yoga poses with an emphasis on building strength, flexibility, focus, and calm. Based on the Ashtanga Vinyasa system, Flow yoga postures are taken from the primary and intermediate series. A great class if you are interested in inversions, arm balancing, and progressing your yoga practice.
All levels 1-2 means that everyone is welcome. Beginners will feel acknowledged and assisted. Pregnant women are welcome to any of the all level Hatha, Yin and Meditation classes. Our Flow and Core classes will not be appropriate for pregnancy.
Foundation means that this class will focus on the key elements of that yoga style which may include, foot placement, alignment, vinyasa, breath, bandha, eye gaze and transitioning.
Level 2-3 means that students must have experience with the style and it's key elements. The sequence will move a quick pace and advanced poses will be part of the sequence such as arm balancing, inversions and deep backbends.
