Sanga Yoga Studio Yoga Teacher Internship Program (TIP)
Upcoming session October 3rd-December 23rd 2010
Application Process Now Open
A complete personal and professional training apprenticeship program for certified yoga teachers committed to greatness.

Most successful people have at some point in their lives acquired a mentor. Someone to reflect their strength, to elevate their experience and to motivate them to their highest potential. A full-time career in yoga is not for the faint of heart, it requires strength in body, mind and spirit. And when a hand of support is offered-successful teachers jump at the opportunity. As yoga teachers we are always yoga students.
Summary
TIP is a level two teacher training program with an internship included. All candidates must go through the application process and five teachers are accepted into the training. Traiing hours are Tuesdays from 12-4:30 October to December 2010. TIP includes weekly lectures, evaluations from an experienced teacher, an assisted work search, private coaching and unlimited yoga classes for the duration of the program. Applicants must be certfied Hatha yoga teachers, must have both a Hatha Flow and Power Vinyasa Flow yoga practice, be currently teaching regular classes and should be teaching for at least a year before applying. This is not a first level teacher training program, all teachers who apply must have already completed a 200 hour Yoga Alliance accredited training with experience in Vinyasa (Ashtanga, Power) and classical Hatha yoga. Teachers can be certified in either Hatha or Vinyasa but need to have a personal practice of both styles.
Cost and Time Commitment
There is a $50.00 application fee for this training to cover admiistration costs. If you are accepted into the program there is no cost as it is strictly a trade agreement. Teachers "work off" their payment for training by teaching two regular classes per week at Sanga Yoga Studio. Teachers sign a contract for the three month trade commitment. Apprentice teachers will be attending regular public classes at Sanga during the training which is also part of the trade agreement. They have the option to assist with classes giving adjustments or for observation along with instructing their weekly classes. Classes taught by interns will be in a Hatha Flow yoga style. To complete their training apprentice teachers will audition a mixed level Power Vinyasa yoga class for Sanga students and teachers at the end of the session. Weekly training days are Tuesdays from 12-4:30pm. Intern teachers teaching schedule will be given once they have been accepted into the program. TIP teachers may pick up paid work during their contract as a substitute teacher at Sanga Yoga Studio.

Shannon Cluff
“Yoga is the practise of accepting the self and therefore accepting our connection to all other selves.”
Shannon works very hard to help others shine. She turned to yoga in 1999 to heal a knee injury after an active childhood as a ballet dancer. In her university years she studied acting and directing as well as aerobics and weight training. Upon graduating from The University of Guelph, Shannon came to Vancouver as an actor as well as a manager for several small businesses. She acquired a Hatha and Power Vinyasa and Prenatal yoga teaching certification from Serenity Yoga and Carolyn McManus. She has continued her training with such popular teachers as David Swenson, Mark Whitwell, Sadie Nardini, Desiree Rumbaugh, Martin Kirk and Paul Grilley and Maalaa as well as many other great teachers in the local community. She apprenticed for two years with Kelly Colleen and Jason Hagemeister of YYoga Flow Wellness and began her teaching career in 2004 with Flow Yoga, Dunbar Community Center and Mixx-Co Fitness. Shannon has also taught for corporate retreats and groups, the UBC Thunderbirds baseball team and individuals with chronic pain and injuries. She has been teaching in the Dunbar Village community for seven years and opened Sanga Yoga Studio in January of 2006. With over twelve years of practice to draw experience from she works with all age groups, levels of experience and abilities. She has a deep respect for yoga and believes that tuning the body leads to miraculous changes in the mind and spirit.
Shannon strives to “teach the individual group that has gathered”, training students and teachers to adapt each asana to the individual. She has mentored thirty certified yoga teachers through the Teacher’s Integration Program, the only personal and professional internship and Hatha/Power Vinyasa Flow Yoga training in North America for certified yoga teachers. She is also a committed mother and takes pride in supporting other mothers and pregnant women within her community. She trains yoga teachers to integrate pregnant women into Hatha Flow classes and also teaches Mom and Baby yoga/pilates. She strives to use her strength as an entrepreneur and a mother to help others to access their own sense of personal power. Moving from a place of deep love for her community she is eager to work with this next group of teacher trainees. Email Shannon at info@sangayoga.ca for questions or to speak to her personally.
